Senior Police Inspector Kovel Yang was ambushed outside their house in barangay Buri, Palo, Leyte, 7a.m. Tuesday. His 6 year old son was not hurt in the incident but both were brought to the hospital.
Yang is assigned at the Police Regional Office – Eastern Visayas and was about to send his son to school when suddenly riding-in-tandem shooters armed with armalite rifles shot at him in close range.
Yang was seriously injured with gunshots to his chest and other parts of the body. 35 empty shells were recovered from the crime scene.
Investigation is still going on as to the motive of the shooting./JMT
