Congresswoman Gwendolyn Garcia is facing another disqualification case at the COMELEC. The second disqualification case was filed by the Durano family led party Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud).
The case was based on the Ombudsman’s decision that bars Garcia from holding public office after she was found guilty of grave misconduct over the unauthorized project to backfill an underwater property when she was governor in 2012.
According to Vice Governor Agnes Magpale that they have a strong case against Rep. Garcia because the Ombudsman’s decision was final and executory.
On Monday, lawyer Edgar Gica filed a petition to disqualify Garcia, accusing her of lying in her certificate of candidacy (COC), also in connection with the Ombudsman’s order to bar her from holding public office.
Garcia on the other hand calls her opponents filing of the case as “desperate move.”
