Next month, President Rodrigo Duterte will give Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) to Ati tribe in Boracay.
According to DAR Secretary John Castriciones that the tribe could occupy the land.
Some 3.1 hectares of land in Barangay Manocmanoc would be distributed on Nov. 8.
Officials are now working with the Registry of Deeds for the issuance of a CLOA to 48 members of the Ati tribe. This is in fulfillment with the President’s promise to make Boracay under land reform.
Some 60 member of the Tumandok tribe are also being checked for eligibility in the land ownership award.
However the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Undersecretary Jonas Leones, said a bigger area will be given to 31 indigenous people families and about 7.8 hectares of land will be distributed before Christmas.
