MANILA, Philippines – Overseas Filipino worker Jennifer Dalquez will finally be released from prison after being saved from death row and is set to return home.
Jennifer was on death row for the murder of her employer who attempted to rape her at knifepoint in December 7, 2014. The 30-year old native of General Santos City said she acted in self-defense as he attempted to rape her.
She was detained for more than two years and waited for the UAE court to decide on her appeal. The decision on her acquittal came out last June 19, 2017.
The repatriation was confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, Nov. 1. She is set to be released from prison in the United Arab Emirates and the authorities there are already coordinating with the Philippine Embassy for Dalquez’s return on Thursday evening and will arrive in the Philippines on Friday, Nov.2.
