“I’ll come up with a list. I will not choose candidates who are crooks. I can assure you of that,” Duterte said in a speech in Cebuano at the distribution of certificates for land reform beneficiaries in Cagayan de Oro City.
The President on Wednesday night mentioned the characteristic he is looking for in senatorial candidates that he will endorse in the May 2019 midterm elections.
Duterte said he can only recommendand it is still up to the public who to vote for.
“Kung hindi niyo tatanggapin, bahala kayo,” he said.
The President has been vocal about his support for former Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go and even accompanied Go in filing his certificate of candidacy for senator at the COMELEC office in Manila last October 15.
In his speech, he again vouched for Go’s credentials. He said that the latter is very much capable to be a good senator and has a wide knowledge about governance.
Last month Duterte said that he is committed to have a clean and honest 2019 elections.
