ELECTION 2019
“Vote for Roxas, Ilonggo eh. Iboto ninyo, walang problema ‘yan,” These were the words of President Rodrigo Duterte said to those who were present at the giving of land certificates to agrarian reform beneficiaries in Boracay.
Duterte said that Filipinos should vote for the former DILG secretary and his opponent in the 2016 elections.
However during his speech he also pointed out the involvement of retired police official Marcelo Garbo, a former aide to the former secretary.
Duterte and Roxas called each other friends when they both served the 11th Congress until news came out in 2015 that Duterte was suffering from cancer, a report that the Davao mayor said came from the camp of Roxas.
Roxas vehemently denied that this allegation and said his team would never spread such morbid news that riled Duterte.
When the former secretary was asked for comments he said, “Totoo ba yan? Kasi wala akong personal knowledge”.
