Dumaguete hit musicale Scharon Mani will be staged at SM Seaside’s Centerstage on December 7, 8 and 9.
Set in the vibrant seaside city of Dumaguete, the play revolves around Charlene, the daughter of Neneh, a labandera; and Nelo, a street vendor.
A singing contest is coming to town and Charlene’s dream of becoming a star seems to be within reach until a series of unfortunate events compels the young dreamer to sell chicharon and mani. Her life as a vendor intersects with other children and characters who are striving to define their life purpose.
Charlene finds undying support from Alnel, the hopeless romantic call center
agent who dreams of becoming a renowned fashion designer; Hannah, a music
student by day and rakista by night who dreams of being able to share freely
her dreams to her father, and; Renz, a senior high school student who believes
that education and hardwork are the key to a successful life. Overcome by
determination, the three friends do all they can so that Charlene doesn’t have to
choose between helping her family and pursuing her dreams. – PR
