MANILA – Tropical depression Samuel has already entered the Philippine area of responsibility and is expected to dump moderate to heavy rains over Mindanao, according to PAGASA.
The storm was last located at 875 kilometers southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, and continues to move at 25 kph, PAGASA added.
Samuel may make landfall in the Visayas-Caraga area on Tuesday, may bring floods and landslides in Caraga, Davao Oriental and Compostela Valley regions starting Monday, the agency warned.
PAGASA advised small sea craft to refrain from sailing off the eastern seaboards of Visayas and of Mindanao due to the storm.
The tropical depression may leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Wednesday night or Thursday morning, PAGASA said.
