MANILA – The Philippine Azkals bow anew in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup, this time to China in a 0-3, at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, January 11
On the 40th minute, China’s Wu Lei kicked from the penalty area and got past the Azkal’s Michael Falkesgaard and into the net.
Wu then made another goal in the 66th minute, while substitute Yu Dabao put the icing on the cake with an 80th minute attack, just 15 seconds after he checked in for Gao Lin.
The win gave China a spot in the playoffs, staying perfect after two matches and left the Azkals with a slim chance of getting into the next round in their first Asian Cup appearance.
For the Azlaks to get a chance to make it to the Sweet 16, the team must defeat Kyrgyzstan, which is playing against South Korea on Wednesday night.
