Manila – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is hopeful that the five missing Filipino seafarers will be found alive and safe.
They were on board the MV Sincerity Ace sailing for Hawaii when the said cargo vessel caught fire on New Year’s eve about 1,800 nautical miles northwest of Oahu.
The missing seamen were part of a 21 crew team of MV Sincerity Ace from Office of Migrant Workers, the manning agency of the vessel
Meanwhile, the remaining 16 Filipino seamen were rescued by the United States Coastguard and other merchant vessels. Most of them were able to return home already.
Mv Sincerity Ace was sailing from Japan carrying 3,500 brand new cars when it caught fire in the middle of the sea that prompted the crew to abandon ship.
