CEBU CITY- Perhaps not quite satisfied with the police investigation on the death of Ashley Abad, her family sought the help that everybody believes would matter most: Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Jose Alfonso “Joal” Abad, Ashley’s father, her mother Grace, uncle Benny , Toledo City councilor Merle Abad, her aunt and her elder sister, among others were allowed audience by Pres. Duterte in Malacanang yesterday.
The engagement had a photo which Grace had shared with her friends in social media where NewsPH.org was provided. “The family would just like to let the President knew of what really happened to As,” a family friend who asked anonymity told NewsPH.org on condition of anonymity for lack of authority to speak in behalf of the family. Ashley 19, died of suspected overdose of a party drug last January 19 after she collapsed in a pre-Sinulog disco party inside the Cebu Business Park organized by Plus63 Music and Arts Festival.
Authorities are looking into the possibility that Ashley ingested “ecstacy” during the event which led to her death when brought to a private hospital. Her attending physician initially concluded that Ashley took the party drug but the crime laboratory has yet to confirm it after their autopsy on the victim. Her boyfriend and companions has never showed up after the incident despite efforts in convincing them to do so.
Cebu City Police Director Royina Garma has told the media that they are now coordinating with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to issue a subpoena to the boyfriend and Ashley’s companions. Earlier, Central Visayas Regional Police Director Debold Sinas said that the boyfriend and the rest of the companions are “persons” of interest of the high-profile case.
