A suspected cohort of a jailed drug personality was gunned down early today in Carcar City.
Radio DyHP reported that Leonides Barcelonia allegedly fired first at the group of the Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) operatives led by Senior Insp. Alejandro Batobalonos forcing the policemen to fire back.
Barcelonia is repotedly the husband of the sister of Jay Camotes, a suspected shabu supplier, who is now jail after his arrest in 2014.
Camotes goverment operatives claimed led the Jay Camotes Drug Group that operates in Carcar and its nearby areas.
He was arrested by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the PNP Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) in a raid in 2014.
Batobalonos told radioman Atty. Ruphil Banoc that their operation is based on a search warrant issued by Barili RTC Judge Leopoldo Canete.
The subject of the search warrant is the wife of Camotes, a certain Faiza Jarantilla.
Jarantilla is living in a compound in Barangay Poblacion 1 where Barcelonia suddenly surfaced and fired to the policemen, the report said.
The killing followed what was described as a bloody Friday yesterday where 11 were killed in Cebu including a suspected bigtime ecstasy supplier operating in Metro Cebu area.
Ken Kenneth Rosales,31, of Tres Borces, Mabolo allegedly fired at the group of Regional Intelligence Operatives (RID) and the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) prompting the cops to return fire.
Rosales was baited in a buy-bust operation in Sepulveda Street, Barangay Zapatera, Cebu City past 1am.
He was with two other alleged cohorts, Justin Anton Jimenez, 21, and Lorenz Jasper Yap, 22, who earlier were collared by the police.
RID chief, Senior Supt. Remus Medina said that they are checking the possibility that the group of Rosales was the source of ecstasy that was ingested by Ashley Abad last February 19 during a pre-Sinulog festival music and dance concert in the Cebu Business Park.
Abad, 19, who was along with her boyfriend, Nel Spencer Tiu and friends died of ecstasy overdose, a laboratory examination confirmed after her body was autopsied by crime lab experts.
