Pres. Rodrigo Duterte hit again at Daanbantayan Mayor Vicente Loot and businessman Peter Lim whom he continues to link in the illegal drug trade.
He minced no words againt Loot, the former police General turned politician, cursing him, and threatening him of being killed.
He described the drug problem in Cebu as “grabe (worse).”
“Ngari grabe pud mga dagkong negosyante pa. Gi-ambush nimo, p _ t ang ina di man pud mao, wa pud mangamatay. Mao pud si Loot, t _ ng ina kang Loot military ka nigasto nimong gobyerno edukar nimo, animal ka,”
He also cursed another retired General Marcelo Garbo who used to be the regional police director of Central Visayas.
“Pagkatapos you commit treason against your own people. Kamo ni Garbo, napakawalanghiya ninyo. You turn your back against your people and make them crazy.”
Both Loot and Garbo whom the President earlier named as “Narco-Generals” are graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
He then went on to mention also about businessman Peter Lim, whom he warned again to be killed once they cross their paths.
Loot had earlier repeatedly denied his involvement in the illegal drug business, saying, the President has been fed with wrong information.
The Mayor and his family were ambushed in May last year in their town, but except for the injuries of their two house helpers, they were unscathed when a group of men that alighted from a white van fired at them as they were on their way to alight from a pump boat from Malapascua Island.
The President warned then that his last three years as President would have a more relentless drive against the illegal drug problem, threatening to kill all of those who are involve in the illicit trade.
“May tatlong taon pa akong naiwan pag hindi ninyo ako napatay itong remaining na tatlong taon ko, p _tang ina, uubusin ko talaga kayo.”
The President made the pronouncement in Plaza Indepedencia last night as he campaigned for the PDP-Laban senate ticket and its guest candidates. He also endorsed their local bets for Cebu (see separate story).
Loot’s step-son, Provincial Board (PB) member Sun Shimura was among those who were around however when the President was speaking.
It was not clear whether Shimura went to the stage to be endorse by the President as Shimura is running to replace his step father.
Shimura sat beside Cong. Benhur Salimbangon (Cebu, 4th district) whose daughter Daphne is the running mate of gubernatorial candidate Cong. Gwen Garcia.
Salimbangon’s wife, Janice is running to replace the congressman.
Also endorsed by the President is former Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama, the Vice Mayoralty tandem of Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella who was also in the alleged narco-list.
Rama told reporters later that the endorsement meant that he has been cleared by the President. Rama like the President, is a product of the San Beda law school.
