Thirty-four (34) policemen in Central Visayas region are facing dismissal from the service for various drug related charges.

That is according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Ma. Aurora Rayos, the spokesperson of the Police Regional Office (PRO7) based in Camp Sergio Osmena.

Rayos said that the fate of the policemen is now with the Regional Internal Affairs Services (RIAS) where there cases are pending.

“Katung atong gitawag (Sir) nga kadtong naay kaso sa anti-illegal drugs, thirty-four sila ka personnel,”
Rayos told Newsph.org.

From the statistics that she cited, Rayos did not say however whether how many were allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade but it was learned that those who were found positive in their surprise drug test were among those in the list.

The suprise drug test according to the police official is part of their internal cleansing process.

She said all the cops in the region had been subjected to surprise drug tests last year, they will do it again this year.

“Nag-una mi sa among tugkaran mao ang gitawag namo nga internal cleansing. Sa internal cleansing nato las year sa 2018 nag one hundred percent nami sa amoang drug test. Sa 100 percent karun nagsugod na pud mi ug drug test na pud. Ang atuang mga kapolisan, that is surprise drug test,” Rayos declared.

Those cops who were known to have been involved in the illegal drug trade are labelled as “ninja cops.”

PNP chief Police General Oscar Albayalde warned these type of cops to suffer the consequences.

Many of the ninja cops were killed in shoot-outs with their fellow cops.
