Attention dog owners. Your pets can contribute to the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
That is, if you want to donate your dogs to become one of the drug sniffing dogs (K9) of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA7).
PDEA7 Regional Director Wardley Getalla said they need additional K9 dogs and so donation of dogs from private individuals could really be a big help.
Once the dog is donated, the pet will be trained by PDEA K9 dogs trainer.
“We are also encouraging those dog lovers who have their talented dogs to train with us so they can lend their dogs to the law enforcers. We are therefore calling on private individuals to join our anti-illegal drug effort by providing us with their dogs to augment the low numbers of our K9,” Getalla told the audience in the recent AGIO-PIA forum in the regional office of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA).
Asked on what kind of dogs they would need, Getalla said they would accept the “big breeds.”
“Actually we have preference, we are after big, big breed of dogs like Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd and even Labrador,” Getalla said.
So to the dog lovers up there, anyone?
There are many who could, right? But no “Askals” please.
