NoCot police nabs 11 in continuing anti-crime ops

KIDAPAWAN CITY – Police authorities have reported the recent arrest of two wanted men, one in this city and the other in the town of Magpet, North Cotabato, raising the number of arrested law offenders to 11 for the period February 25 to March 2.

The latest arrest was made on Friday where Magpet’s No. 4 most wanted person, Vicente Canedo of Barangay Noa, was arrested at 4 a.m.

Also on Friday, police arrested Andy Buenaflor, 45, of Barangay Sudapen for violation of Republic Act 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Police Col. Maximo Layugan, North Cotabato police director, said the provincial police office also conducted two separate anti-drug operations that resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of one huge pack of marijuana.

During the same period, seven persons were also arrested for engaging in illegal gambling. The police also seized PHP3,606 cash from the suspects.

“Two persons were also arrested for violating election gun ban and confiscated three firearms during law enforcement operations in the same period,” he said.

Moreover, the police official said the campaign against illegal logging led to the recovery of 800 board feet of forest products.

Layugan assured the public that the police will continue to enforce the law in accordance with legitimate enforcement procedures. (PNA)
