Village exec yields illegal firearms, ammo in Davao raid

DAVAO CITY – A barangay chairman yielded several unlicensed guns and assorted ammunition when a joint team police team raided his residence in Kapalong, Davao del Norte on Friday night.

Police Maj. Jason Baria, spokesperson of Police Regional Office (PRO)-11, said Sunday a composite team from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion, the Regional Intelligence Division of PRO-11 and the Kapalong Municipal Police Station implemented a search warrant against Barangay Captain Edgar Allan Quilla of Mabantao, Kapalong Davao Del Norte.

Baria said the authorities arrested Quilla after they found one.45-caliber colt MK IV; .45-caliber Norinco 1911; six .45-caliber magazines; 47 .45-caliber ammunition; 45 ammunition for 9-mm; three M16 ammunition; three .38-caliber ammunition; four .22-caliber ammunition and one .380-caliber ammunition.

Authorities also arrested Rolando Sombilom Pamat after he was caught in the act of possessing one .38-caliber revolver loaded with seven live bullets.

Baria said the inventory of all the seized evidence was done in an orderly manner in the presence of the arrested persons and witnesses. Appropriate cases will be filed against the Quilla and Siombilom, Baria added. The suspects are temporarily detained at Kapalong Municipal Police Station. (PNA)
