A congressional bet for Lapu-Lapu City wants death penalty reimposed. Pablo Doronio Jr. aka Junex Doronio who is running against Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza for the lone congressional seat of the city issued the statement after 16 year-old Christine Silawan was brutally killed and believe to be raped. Silawan, a church collector for Sacred Heart Church in Barangay Pajac was already naked from her waist down when found in a grassy area in Barangay Bangkal.
Her face was skinned to the bone. “Tungod niini, nagkanayon si Junex Doronio nga milansar pagka- Kongresista sa Dakbayan sa Lapu-Lapu nga angay lamang nga ibalik ang silot nga kamatayon sa ingon niini ka grabe nga krimen,” Doronio said in his Facebook post hours after the incident. Lapu-Lapu City Chief of Police, Police Colonel Lemuel Obon said that they are eyeing a group of three men who could have killed the victim. Silawan went to serve in the mass of the Sacred Heart Church yesterday afternoon but failed to return home last night. The victim is in Grade 9. She is a resident of the nearby Sitio Soong in Barangay Mactan.
