The Chief of Police of Lapu-Lapu City is asking the help of the public to lead them to the persons that were responsible in the gruesome murder of Christine Lee Silawan. “We appeal for your cooperation,” Police Colonel Lemuel Obon said in an interview by tri-media personality Leo Lastimosa over DyAB radio.

Obon said that his men are pursuing the persons of interest to the crime and in the process might go to places where they need confirmation on whether the persons that they are looking are either present or has been in the area. He said it would matter if the public will help them by providing them information once his tracking team would show photos of the persons that they are pursuing. Obon said the persons may have gone out of Lapu-Lapu City already, “but we are tracking them,” he added.

Malacanang has already ordered the Lapu-Lapu City police to immediately solve the crime. Silawan, a 16 year-old alms collector was found dead last Monday morning, March 4, in a vacant lot in Barangay Bankal. She bore 30 stab wounds (not 20 as earlier reported), twenty in her body, one in her neck and nine in her arms. Her face was skinned to the bone but her relatives positively identified her through her physical features and clothes that she wore.

NO RAPE REITERATED

Silawan was also naked from her waist down raising widespread speculation that she was raped but Obon reiterated that the autopsy conducted showed that none of that happened. “As per autopsy report wala tu mahilabti kay walay fresh laceration sa iyang genital area,” Obon said in the same interview which was also his statement in another radio interview last Tuesday.

The autopsy was conducted by medico legal officer Benjamin Lara who still would release the result of a confirmatory procedure that he did however. Lara took a specimen in the cervix area of Silawan’s body to determine the presence of a male fluid. Silawan served in the 4pm mass of Sacred Heart Parish in Barangay Pajac last Sunday but failed to return home at night in Sitio Soong, Barangay Mactan

Her mother Lourdes went around to look for her that led her to discover how brutally her daughter was killed. Christine Lee who is in Grade 9 high school student in Maribago National High School is the second of four siblings. A P100, 000 bounty has already been offered to the informant that would lead to the arrest of Silawan’s perpetrators.
