DUMANJUG and Alegria will put its unbeaten records in peril as they clash against the no.2 teams in the other brackets in the knockout playoff stage of the 7th District competition of the Cebu Governor’s Cup 2019 Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament.
Dumanjug finished with a 3-0 win-loss card to top Group A, will be playing against Malabuyoc, the no.2 in Group B, which had a 1-2 at the Jose Macoy Memorial Sports Complex in Dumanjug, while Alegria, which also finished the elimination phase with a 3-0 slate will play Group A no.2 team Moalboal, which had a 2-1 record in Alegria Municipal Gym.
The winners will advance to the next round, but they need to play a ranking game on Saturday for the P100,000 top prize for the District. The loser will settle for P50,000 cash prize.
Up north, coming from a frustrating loss to Tabuelan last Sunday, Medellin (2-1) will try to regain footings when they host Tabogon (2-2) at 7PM at in Medellin Sports Complex for the 4th District competition.
District leader and still unbeaten Madridejos (4-0) is looking to extend its winning run and the first ticket to the next level of competition as they engage Tabuelan (2-2) at 4:30PM and Bogo City will try to solidify its hold at the no.2 slot as they encounter San Remegio (1-3) at 6PM.
In Cordova Sports Complex, Team Cordova (1-2) will try to avenge an 85-78 loss to Consolacion Sarok Weavers (2-0) last March 9 at 6 tonight.
A win by the home team will make things a little bit interesting as it would muddle up the race for the two slots intended for the 6th District teams.
Cordova is currently tied with the Mandaue City with 1-2 records with each team having a win over the other. However, the 104-75 win last March 22 put the 89-88 win of the former last March 17 to nothing. Beating Consolacion by at least eight points will put Cordova in a better position towards the next round.
