“SUSPECT’S SHOES HAS BLOOD OF CHRISTINE”

By Tonton Alcos Antogop

The shoes of the 18-year-old suspect of the gruesome murder of Christine Lee Silawan has blood stains of the victim. This is according to a broadcast report of DySS-RGMA Cebu quoting Dr. Rene Cam, the forensics division chief of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI-Central Visayas Office).

The bloodstains were compared to the DNA of the parents of Christine whose DNA was earlier collected by the forensic experts of NBI Manila. Dr. Cam earlier told iNews.ph that they took a buccal swab on the parents of the victim which is a non-evasive way to collect DNA samples from the inside of a person”s cheek.

The shoes were among the thing of interest which the NBI confiscated from the house of the suspect when they implemented a search warrant issued by Cebu City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 11 Judge Ramon Daomilas. Atty. Vincent Isles, the suspect’s lawyer, however, wanted the warrant invalidated along with the evidence gathered citing it was not what the warrant was all about.

NBI Regional Director Tomas Enrile had revealed earlier that their evidence would be based on science but Isles had filed a motion to Daomilas to invalidate the search warrant pointing out that the seizure of the shoes and other clothing of interest were not covered by it.

Isles contended that Daomilas, also the Presiding Judge of the designated Special Cybercrime Court in Cebu had issued a Warrant to Search, Seize and Examine Computer Data (WSSECD) and not for the items which the NBI had confiscated. Daomilas still has to rule on the motion of Isles as he also gave the NBI to submit their reply.

Meanwhile, the suspect will already be 18 years old today. He is in the custody of the Homecare for Children of the Lapu-Lapu City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) According to the NBI, the boy is the ex-boyfriend of Christine Lee who might have been driven by jealousy in killing the victim.

Christine Lee was allegedly fetched by the suspect in the Sacred Heart Church of Barangay Pajac last March 10 where she served as alms collector. The following day the lifeless body of Christine was found in a vacant lot in the nearby Barangay Bankal.

The victim’s face was skinned to the bone. She was half naked with 30 stab wounds. Some of her body parts were missing, her tongue, trachea esophagus and right ear.
