The Lapu-Lapu City Police is now holding another suspect of the murder of Christine Lee Silawan. Lapu-Lapu City Police Director Colonel Limuel Obon told reporters that the suspect had a “confession” of the crime.
He begged off to comment further, however. Obon told reporters to wait for a while about the details of the major development but Police Regional Director Brigadier General Debold Sinas who rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LLCPO) headquarters decided not to announced officially the arrest.
“You know us, unless we are ready, we are not going to tell anything,” Sinas explained to the throng of reporters who waited at the LLCPO since past noon today. ALBAYALDE TO ANNOUNCE A source who requested anonymity that the official announcement would be done during the arrival of PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde.
Albayalde will be visiting Bohol tomorrow and might do a side trip to Cebu because of the major breakthrough. “Hinahanda ang lahat at kinukumpleto para sigurado tayo pag nandyan na si Chief PNP,” the source told iNews.ph on condition of anonymity for lack of official authority to speak.
NBI SUSPECT IS NOT INVOLVE The source further said that the suspect who has been filed with murder case earlier by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is not connected with the new suspect. “The confession will explain it all, let us just wait when it will be known,” the source further said.
The source said that among their evidence against the new suspect is the close circuit television (CCTV) footages that identified the suspect as the person who was with Silawan.
Silawan’s flayed body was found in a vacant lot in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City last March 11. The gruesome murder is being personally monitored by Malacanang and Pres. Rodrigo Duterte himself. The 16-year-old victim was a church alms collector who served in a mass before she went missing and found dead thereafter.
