TAGBILARAN CITY- The newest suspect in the gruesome murder of Christine Lee Silawan had made an extra-judicial confession to the crime. Police Regional Director Brigadier Debold Sinas finally broke his silence here on the circumstances on the arrest of the suspect in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning.
Sinas is awaiting the visit of PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde with whom he will also brief on the latest development of the case.
IDENTIFIED THROUGH CCTV
Sinas said an informant tipped them on the presence of the suspect whom they identified on the several close circuit television (CCTV) camera footages which they gathered. When the suspect was accosted, the responding policeman caught the suspect inflagrante delicto holding an unlicensed .45 caliber pistol.
Sinas refused to identify the complete name of the suspect but he described the person to be 42 years-old who is a resident of Lapu-Lapu City. The suspect according to the top police official in the region is also included in the watchlist of illegal drug pushers operating in the city.
Asked on the motive in killing Silawan, Sinas said that the suspect was “obsessed with the victim.” “Personally during a personal interview, obsession with the girl, nag-obsess gyud siya sa babaye kasi kabalo na siya sa babae, kaila na siya sa babae, ang babae nailhan lang niya through exchanges sa txt ug sa messenger,”
Sinas told reporters. Sinas meanwhile explained that they will continue to confer with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the latest suspect. Sinas begged off to provide further details on the arrest as they are still preparing the evidence and the criminal cases.
Sinas said that once their evidence will be complete, they will be filing the illegal possession of firearms and murder charges against the suspect who is described to have been “duping” young girls in the internet.
