LAPU-LAPU CITY- With 28 of the 30 barangay captains present and at least 20,000 people in attendance of their grand rally here Saturday Mayor Paz Radaza and her husband Arturo is confident of victory in the forthcoming May 13 elections. The couple said that they are just taking precautions though as they heard of information that certain quarters would really want to create trouble.

Arturo who is running for Mayor claimed that a reliable informant told them that there are law enforcement units that will raid their house and his running mate, Harry Don Radaza, his nephew and incumbent city councilor. “Para nako, daug na man nang eleksyona, mao nang hinungdan wala lang nako isulti sa katawhan, nahibaw-an namo nga gusto gyud sila mangita ug gubot ug samok.

Gani nagplano nga ipa-raid kuno ang among balay asta pud kang Harry (For me, this is already a won election, that is the reason that I just did not tell the people, we learned that they really wanted trouble and chaos. They plan to raid our house and that of Harry),” Arturo told the media after their rally at the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) football field in Barangay Ibo here.

Arturo said the raid will be for illegal firearms which they don’t have and also for shabu, which according to their informant, will be planted, even to their vehicles, thus they are taking actions so that it would not happen. Also present during their rally is Congresswoman Aileen Radaza, their only daughter who pitched for Paz to replace her.

Aileen said that as a lone congressional district, it is advantageous that the city government will be complimented with the legislator in congress. Still single, Aileen kidded that she decided to rest for awhile after her two-terms that ends this June to possibbly marry. “Bitaw pahuway sa ko sa politiko ha kay dili na nya ko maminyo ani.

Mao na nang di na nato dugayon pa palihug intawn botari ang akong inahan, inyong inahan, ang sunod nato nga kongresista, si (I will rest in politics for a while as I might not get married because of it. That is why, let us not delay it, please vote for my mother, our mother, our next congresswoman, she is) I love you more, number 4, Paz Corro Radaza,” Cong. Radaza said.

For her part, Mayor Radaza asked for support as she pledged to continue the development and progress of the city which she started in 2010. She said she will pour into the city whatever projects that she could get as representative in congress. “Kita tanan nganhi sa kanunay magkuyog sa pag-atiman sa atong barangay, sa atong syudad ug sa atong mga katawhan.

Muna ako muhangyo ninyo nga inyo akong himuon ninyong representante ngadto sa kongreso para ang ato karung mga kalambuan, ang atong mga nangahimo, atong maipadayon ug atong matan-aw ug unsay mga mejoras nga atong mahatag isip suporta ngari sa Syudad sa Lapu-Lapu (Let us be together all time in attending to our barangay, our city and to our people.

That is why I am asking you to make me representatitve in congress so that whatever development that we have, our accomplishments will continue, and we will see whatever projects that we can give to our City of Lapu-Lapu),” Mayor Radaza said. Each of the candidates for city councilors was required to show their talents to entertain the crowd.

Of the 30 barangay captains, Pajo Barangay Captain Junard “Ahong” Chan, who is running against Arturo, and Santa Rosa Barangay Captain Francisco Gilig, who aspires as a councilor in the ticket of Chan is not allied with the Radaza’s.
