Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito. “Of course among the other Senators, I am endorsing Senator JV Ejercito. Dako kaayo mi ug pasalamat niya. And of course, because he is the good one,” Davide said in a press conference here today.
The Cebu Governor thanked the reelectionist senator for the facilitation of the release of P200 million funding assistance for the operation of the province run Danao City District Hospital and the Balambam District Hospital. Acknowledged as the principal author of Universal Health Care law (R.A. 11223) in the 17th congress, Ejercito said there are also other earmarked budgets for some government hospitals in Cebu that he worked for.
The hospitals included the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), Eversley Child Sanitarium, Saint Anthony Mother and Child Hospital and the Talisay District Hospital. Ejercito said the budget in VSMMC would include the allocation for “specialty centers (i.e. heart, kidney, lungs) because the government will put up specialty centers in the Visayas and Mindanao other than the established centers in Metro Manila. Ejercito who has been included in both the Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HnP) of Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte and as a guest candidate of PDP-Laban is optimistic that he will be reelected.
“So far so good naman. I am peaking at the right time. So hopefully we can sustain the momentum. I have a good chance of making it,” he said. Recently, Bro. Mike Velarde, the leader of the 2 million El Shaddai religious group has also endorsed the reelection of Ejercito, the half-brother of former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada who is also seeking to be elected again in the upper chamber.
Estrada is out on bail on plunder charges on the multi-billion pork barrel scam that involved jailed businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles. Sen. JV and ex-Senator Jinggoy are sons of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, one of the former Presidents of the Republic of the Philippines.
