MANDAUE CITY, Philippines- Ako Bisaya party-list first nominee Engr. Sonny Lagon formally took his oath tonight as Congressman at the Oakridge Pavillion. Lagon, a noted contractor took his oath to Cebu Governor elect Gwendolyn Garcia, whom he largely credited for his victory as first timer in the party-list election system. “I promise my loyalty to the Garcia family tonight.
They are largely responsible for this,” Lagon said in vernacular in his speech that followed his oath taking that also served as the party’s Thanksgiving. With Lagon is his wife Daphne and their children and Lagon’s mother Babie, who held the bible where the congressman-elect placed his hand above in his oath taking.
Lagon said he will work hard in 2022 to assure that Ako Bisaya will get three seats as he already has something in mind on how to do it. Ako Bisaya chairman Vidal Villanueva for his part said that the party is committed to implementing its campaign platforms. Villanueva, the number 2 nominee said that the party is aimed at helping all the “Bisaya”, especially in Cebu.
Among the programs that they are pursuing are medical assistance, scholarship, legal assistance, and livelihood. Ako Bisaya got at least 395,000 votes to secure one seat Vidal told iNews.Ph and it had the most votes in Cebu among the party list groups and they will reciprocate it. “Gitukod ug gimugna kini para kanatong mga Bisaya ilabi na gyud sa Sugbu,” Vidal said in his welcome speech.
Congressman Benhur Salimbangon (Cebu, 4th district), Congresswoman-elect Emmarie “Lolypop” Ouano-Dizon (Cebu 6th district), Cebu City Vice Mayor-elect Michael Rama was also in attendance of the event and some Mayors among them, the re-elected Lakambini Reluya of San Fernando town. /Tonton Alcos Antogop
