In a letter addressed to the POC Executive Board, Vargas who won the court ordered election in February 2017 over 3 termer president Jose “Pdeping” Conjuangco Jr., pointed out no particular reason for his resignation. “This is to inform the Executive Board of the Philippine Olympic Committee that I am tendering my irrevocable resignation from the post of president of the organization effective immediately,” Vargas opening statement.
“After much introspection, I have determined that there would be other sports leader who would have the time and inclination needed to lead the POC more effectively,” he added.
Vargas’s resignation came at the heels of PHILSGOC-POC-NSA SEA Games alignment meeting at the SM Aura Premier in Taguig City yesterday, June 17, 2019.
