CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES – Cebu City Police Director Colonel Royina Garma is leaving soon. She is set to assume as the General Manager of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), PRO7 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said early morning today.
“Yin Garma will be designated at the PCSO as the General Manager…so we are happy for Colonel Garma,” Sinas said in a press briefing. Just tonight, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte also announced Garma’s appointment in Manila saying that Garma will replace retired marine General Alexander Balutan.
According to Sinas, he is now looking for a replacement of Garma, whom he has high-praises for standing her ground against a City Mayor who is critical of the police force. Garma and outgoing Cebu City Mayor Tomas had several spats in the past.
Garma described her stint in Cebu as one that she cannot forget in her 24 years of service in the Philippine National Police. “Every assignment mo mayroon ka talagang iiwanan na very challenging. But I think this one, Cebu City is something that I will not forget.”
Before her Cebu assignment, Garma who earlier was the regional chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG7) was assigned in several positions in Davao City. Pres. Duterte then was still the Davao City Mayor when Garma was also there./AAJ
