A Celebration of Life

The recent birthday celebration of Dr. Mila Espina revealed the advocacies close to her heart – women’s and children’s rights as well as promoting Cebuano talents. Aptly called “Celebration of Life,” friends, former students, government officials and pillars of the academe gathered at Ayala Center Cebu on Monday (July 15).

The celebration was capped by the awarding of the Talento Cebuanos 2019 for their exemplary skills and performances in the USJ-R Drac musicales and international cultural shows. The awardees are Arlene Lienos, Analou Reyes, Janet Quevedo, Anmercik Romaguera, Rachel Puray Vasayan, Gerard Cabras, and Edwin Joseph Castañeda.

Gwendolyn Venus, John Paul Du, Jessie Camay, AzenithLianza, Alex Usman, Phoebe Abatayo, Cherry Mae Uy, Losyl Alforque, Charles Allan Egama, and Kimberly Clark Pasuit were also recognized as Valuable Josenians 2019 for career excellence, loyalty and dedication to the USJ-R mission and Drac values.

Meanwhile, Hall of Fame of Success 2019 awardees are Noel Seno, USJR Drac for community leadership and performances in USJ-R Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble International Shows; Bessie Espina Villamor, for her banking profession, civic involvement and leadership in USJ-R DracAlumni; Dr. Anita Sanchez, for her excellence in the academic and accounting profession, leadership in socio-civic and community projects; Dr. Edgar Alosbanos (first bright scholar of USJR) for his international cultural research and academic excellence; Ret.Rev.Msgr. Roberto Alesna, PA, for enduring religious services and parish management and Mr. Ramon Sebastian for his valuable support and participation in the scholarship program and international shows of USJ-R cultural shows in Beijing and the US.
