Shang keeps HRRACI basketball title

SHANGRI-LA Mactan Basketball Team retained the title after beating Maayo Hotel, 76-58 in the championship game of the Hotel, Resorts and Restaurants Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI) Sportsfest 2019 at the USPF Gym
CEBU City, Philippines – Defending champions Shangri-la Mactan proved to be meaner at crunch time as they crushed the challengers Maayo Hotel with an emphatic 76-58 stomping in the knockout championship another basketball title in the 2019 Hotel Resorts and Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc. (HRRACI) Sportsfest during its culminating activity held at the USPF Gym Sunday, July 21, 2019.
Former University of Cebu Webmaster star Doroteo Almacin flashed his old forms as he connected six triples, including three in the third period that delivered Shangrila away from a tight ball game.
Although the game started to get physical in the second half, Almacin did not buckle down as he scattered 13 of Shangri-la’s 17 points in the third period that slowly zapped the energy from the Cebu Division top seeds.
Almacin scored the game-high 26 points and former USC Warriors team captain Nico Magat contributed 13 points off the bench for Shangri-la Mactan while ex-USPF Panthers deadshot Ervin Badrina top-scored for Maayo Hotel with 13 markers and former CIT-U Wildcats forward John Anthony Lucena and ex-UC Webmaster Clint Suelto added 11 points each.
Diamond Hotel, on the other hand, copped the second runner-up trophy following a 92-78 win over Plantation Bay in the battle for third place.
Meanwhile, Team Cebu outlasted their Team Mactan in the Executives exhibition game 64-60.
Aside from the Basketball title Shangri-La also won the Billiards with Parklane and Quest claiming the second and third places; and the Male Singles Badminton titles where Radisson and Kandaya rounding up the medal winners. Shangri-La finished behind Radisson and Bluewater in the badminton mixed doubles competition.
Plantation Bay won the Women’s while Radisson copped the Men’s Volleyball titles, Marco Polo tabbed the Bowling diadem, Bluewater captured Female Singles badminton event, Montebello won the Darts title, Bluewater added the chess title to its collection and the Cheer Dance title went to Movenpick.
Plantation Bay’s Paul Benjamin Abal and Anne Rodrigo won the Mr. and Ms. HRRACI 2019 crowns respective with Jayson Billy Yballe of Bai Hotel and Genevieve Canete of Shangri-La and Raffy Maanghop of Diamond Hotel and Geneil Sanchez of Bluewater complete the courts./RCM
