CEBU CITY, Philippines- The Special Action Force of the Philippine National Police (PNP-SAF) is coming over to Negros Oriental. This is the announcement this morning by PNP Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde.

Albayalde said about 300 SAF members will be deployed purposely to go after the New Peoples Army (NPA) rebels in the area. Since last Sunday though Central Visayas Police Regional Director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas already hinted of a SAF deployment but the police official opted not to magnify it.

“Those are our preemptive actions now. Aside from that, we will be strengthening our patrol. You will see our patrol and checkpoints. We will also have the SAF here to assist us in the deployment in the hinterlands” Sinas said in a press conference in Camp Francisco Fernandez in Sibulan town.

Just tonight Sinas said that as per public announcement of Albayalde, the SAF troopers will be deployed in the rebel infested province. “Gud pm as CPNP released it publicly, the additional personnel will be assigned to Negros Oriental. However, we will wait for the directives from NHQ PNP,” Sinas said in a Viber message to the members of the Defense Press Corps (DEPP) of Cebu and other journalists covering the military and police beat.

Prior to the deployment of the PNP-SAF, a senior police official earlier told iNews.Ph of a full offensive of the government to quell the spate of killings in Negros Oriental which included the death of four policemen.

The Mount Cansermon Command-New Peoples Army (MCC-NPA) admitted in their killing of Relebert Beronio, Patrolman Raffy Callo, Patrolman. Roel Cabellon; and Patrolman Marquino de Leon, all members of the 704th Mobile Force Company of the Regional Mobile Force Batallion (RMFB7) whom they blamed to have acted in gathering intel reports against them in Sitio Yamot, Barangay Mabato, Ayungon last July 18.

Pres. Rodrigo Duterte announced in Candon City, Ilocos Sur recently that he is offering a bounty of P3 million in exchange for the head of the leader of the NPA rebels that killed the four policemen as he aired his anger about the traumatic injuries which the cops sustained before they were killed.

The MCC-NPA is allegedly led by a certain Jimlan dela Cruz. Aside from the 4 policemen, 13 others were killed also allegedly by the NPA’s among them ex-Mayor Edsel Enardecido of Ayungon and Canlaon City councilor Ramon Jalandoni, school principal Arthur Bayawa in Hibaiyo, Guihulngan and barangay Captains Romeo Alipan of Buenavista, Guihulngan and Ernesto Posadas of Panubigan, Canlaon among others.

The gunmen of Jalandoni and Posadas who were both shot in their houses spray painted in their wall fences the words, “Mabuhay ang NPA”, “Traidor sa NPA.”/AAJ
