To fast track, the process of recording births in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, the services of the Local Civil Registrar’s Office of Cebu City will soon be available in Malasakit Center.
Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Dino personally asked Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella to put a desk inside VSMMC’s Malasakit Center to accommodate recording of births done inside the hospital.
Mayor Labella on his end agreed and promised to put personnel from the Local Civil Registrar’s (LCR) Office in the Malasakit Center within the week.
“To facilitate the recording of births of our constituents we agreed with the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Mike Dino that we have to put in place an employee from the LCR Office,” said Mayor Labella.
The Mayor added that it would take time for the parents of the newborn child to process the registration of birth at the City Registrar’s Office in Cebu City building in General Maxilom Avenue Extension.
Mayor Labella also said that it is time-consuming for parents to correct typographical errors of their child’s information; however, if a satellite desk of the LCR is located inside the hospital, then this would make it more convenient to implement corrections.
The LCR desk in the Malasakit Center would also make the stay of the mothers who delivered their newborn babies in the hospital shorter. Secretary Dino is appreciative of Mayor Labella’s support to further streamline government services.
Currently, there are five major agencies inside Malasakit Center which includes the Malasakit Fund from the Office of the President, PhilHealth, Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office./HT Lenis
