For all the busy and hardworking urbanists that are overwhelmed with day-to-day hustle and bustle, a quick escape from the big city is a must. And a great way to unwind, enjoy the outdoors, recharge and indulge the senses is to visit a botanical garden.
About an hour ride from the city center in Barangay Adlaon’s gorgeous mountains lies Don Meon Garden. The garden features an excellent collection of diverse plant life, with fruit-bearing trees, different species of flowering plants, perennials and it has a great soothing ambience no matter what the weather is.
The owner, Jean Cortes bought the property in 2010 and planned to create a garden and rest house for her family. She started planting fruit bearing trees, different flowers of different vibrant colours and tending to the almost a hectare property not expecting it would turn into a beautiful garden that is now helping provide livelihood to more than ten of her gardeners and staff.
Her children at first didn’t like the idea of opening it to the public until she was finally able to convince them and formally opened its gates last February. Every day, about ten or more guests from all over Cebu, other parts of the country and even foreigners visit garden.
Don Meon Garden is truly a hidden gem, with so much lush scenery, and a nice place to take great photos. It is located at Sitio Camandricacawan, Barangay Adlaon, Cebu City. For more details, like their Facebook Page or call 0919 610 6845 and 0915 867 0988.
