Pochie Porky, PCG’s first pork sniffing dog

CEBU CITY, Philippiines – The Coast guard unit in Cebu is using specially trained dogs in keeping the province ASF-free.

This is in line with governor Gwen Garcia’s executive order banning the entry of live hogs and pork products from areas affected by the african swine fever or ASF scare.

Coast Guard District Central Visayas, as a member of the Task Force ASF, deployed specially trained K9s in Coast Guard Central Visayas, Pier 3, Arellano Blvd, Cebu City to detect ASF infected pork products.

Having this asset, as part of the detection capability of the Task Force, will provide a strict monitoring in all ports in Cebu.

Further, this will be the first Nationwide and more dogs in Manila will be trained for national ports./HTL
