The first-ever National Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament, christened “The Sinulog Cup”, which will flutter at the Robinsons Galleria Atrium in Cebu City, Philippines on January from 24 to 26, 2020.
The tournament is aimed to showcase the talents of our young gymnasts all over the country as an offering and thanksgiving to Sr. Sto. Niño.
The main objective of this competition is to improve the competence level of our young athletes as they prepare to be world champions through exposure and the opportunity to meet higher caliber gymnasts. And at the same time develop a positive self-esteem by instilling the values of good sportsmanship, self-discipline, respect and accountability during the tournament.
The organizers are grateful for the support and hope to build a bridge of friendship among clubs to make rhythmic gymnastics a leading sport in the country.
The Sinulog Cup is spearheaded by The Academy of Cebu Gymnastics (ACG). The Academy a duly registered organization, which have its Head Coach Mikhaela Kirsten Silverio, a national gold medalist and a former Philippine National Team Athlete as its Director. She is also a certified national coach and a national judge.
In the past year, ACG has helped athletes gain success by winning 20 gold medals, 12 silvers, 20 bronzes in local and national tournaments.
ACG is the official partner of the Mabolo Elementary School which had 50 students training for free. ACG is also an affiliate member with the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines, which is under the leadership of Cynthia Carrion-Norton and Sec. Gen. Bettina H. Pou.
The Sinulog Cup is held in alliance with Phil. National Team head coach Dyanara Arandela and is partnered by the Cebu City Government and the Cebu City Sports Center and supported by Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros and the Cebu City Sports Commission Board of Commissioners. /PR
