Lakers lead 2-0

THE Los Angeles Lakers are halfway through the NBA title as they scored another masterful 124-114 win over the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the NBA Finals 2020.

LeBron James again flirted with a triple-double act as the 17-year veteran finished with 33 points, nine rebounds and nine assists to help Los Angeles lead 2-0 in the best of 7 championship series. The Lakers are now two wins away from clinching the 17th franchise title.

It was an all-Lakers show from the start to finish as James and Anthony Davis, who also had a stellar performance, scoring 32 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, went to work to lead Los Angels after a brief exchange of lead from the opening tip.

Miami who played without Bam Adebayo (strain neck) and Goran Dragic (partially torn plantar fascia) put up a decent fight with Jimmy Butler who made 25 points and game-high 13 assists and Tyler Herro firing 17 to light up the Heat scoreboard.

And there was Kelly Olynyk who stepped up in offense, contributing 24 points off the bench for Miami.

However, their efforts were not enough as the Lakers were simply better on defense and more efficient offense.

The Lakers converted 49 shots of 97 attempts and sank 16 attempts from the 3-point area while Miami which had a decent 36-of-71 clip and managed to keep the deficit below 20 as they took advantage of Los Angeles’ 26 person fouls to score¬† 31 points from 34 free throw attempts.

Without a strong presence inside, the Lakers outscored Miami 56-46 in the paint and grabbed more rebounds 44-37 (16-6 offensive rebounds). LA also had more assists (32-29), steals (6-2) and blocks (3-1).

Rajon Rondo added 16 and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Kyle Kuzma contributed with 11 points each for the Lakers, as Kendrick Nunn and Jae Crowder were the other Miami players who scored in double-digit with 13 and 12 points respectively.

The Lakers are now 4-0 in the playoffs wearing the Kobe Bryant inspired Black Mamba uniform.

Game 3 is scheduled on Oct. 5 (Oct. 6, Phil. time). RCM
