Philippine Fashion Coalition (PFC), the business support organization of Philippine fashion and its professionals has joined a private-led campaign to champion the Filipino soft power called “Dama Ko, Lahi Ko”—a call to celebrate Filipino culture via the five senses.
On June 12, Independence Day, various Filipino culture references and resources celebrated physically in hundreds of participating locations and in social media where these will be tagged #damakolahiko in support of said campaign.
And as Filipino fashion is celebrated via the sense of sight or “paningin,” the PFC has envisioned a curation of the “best of every region” on the Philippine fashion map by creating a Dama Ko Lahi Ko x PFC box—which will launch for pre-orders on June 12 as well.
These boxes, which will actually be buri material “tampipi,” carry in them unique finds from such culturally-rich destinations as Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Manila and Pampanga. So as travel is somewhat still restricted and challenging during these times, purchase these beautiful pieces from such important destinations and have souvenirs of its best fashion items. All of them are handmade by Filipinos for Filipinos and support the slow-fashion economy in those areas.
