CEBU City, Philippines – The Langoy Pilipinas National Age-Group Developmental Swimming Competition will make waves with the Sarangani Province Leg, the first of the scheduled 10 legs around the country.
Langoy Pilipinas conceptor Darren Evangelista, a former member of Mapua Cardinals and a five-time NCAA swimming champion coach revealed that Langoy Pilipinas is based on six important objectives – strengthen grassroots development, improve tourism through sports, create a wave of livelihood opportunities, enhance positive values and sportsmanship, and promote family togetherness.
Last Monday, Langoy Pilipinas Mindanao coordinator Dong Gonzales visited Sarangani Governor Ruel Pacquiao to discuss the concept and guidelines of the competition which will be held on Feb. 25 and 26 at the Sarangani Sports Training Center Swimming Pool at the Capitol Compound in Alabel.
Also present during the meeting was the Provincial Sports Development Division head Alma Corazon Gabuat.
Aside from Sarangani the competition is expected to be held in Manila, Tarlac, Cavite, Laguna, Bohol, Roxas, Bacolod, and Cagayan de Oro. Evangelista has considered including Cebu City to the list of hosts.
Langoy Pilipinas is all about providing more avenue for aspiring swimmers aged 6 to 17 years old. Participants are not limited to school-based teams and swimming clubs but also the less-fortunate and out-of-school youth as well. RCM
