CEBU City, Philippines – The Mendez, Cavite-based Guang Ming College is giving opportunities to young hopefuls to earn full scholarship through its basketball program.
The school, which is the fifth member of the Fo Guang Shan International University Consortium, is an affiliate of the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) in Metro Manila will be holding a 3-day tryout in Tagbilaran City in Bohol and Cebu City on March 17-19, for its Men’s Basketball program.
According to assistant coach Michael Cenabre, the coaching staff including Athletic Director Bo Perasol, head coach Moriah Gingerich and the other assistant coach Kenneth Raval will attend the scheduled tryouts in Tagbilaran and Cebu City.
The tryouts will start from 3 to 6PM on March 17 at the Saulug Gym in Tagbilaran City.
Another round of selection will take place at the same venue from 8am-12noon on March 18. Then it will shift in Cebu City from 5 to 8PM on the same day at the Capitol Parish Gym in Escario St. in Cebu City.
The final day of the tryouts will be held at the Cebu City Sports Institute gym in Sawang Calero from 10am to 12 noon on March 19.
Participants must be born from 2000 to 2005 to qualify.
Aside from full scholarship, GMC also gives those who will be selected to join the team to compete in the BLIA Cup in Taiwan representing the Philippines along with Ateneo de Manila Blue Eagles and the UP Fighting Maroons. RCM
