CEBU City, Philippines – Only seven of the 50 young hopefuls made the cut in the 2-day tryouts called by the Guang Ming College in Cebu City.
A total of 50 born year 2000 to 2005 ballers from the different parts of Cebu participated on the first day of trials held at the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish in Escario St. Of the 50, only 24 were called back to join the final day of tryout held at the Cebu City Sports Institute in San Nicolas Proper on Sunday.
From the 24, GMC coaching staff led by head coach Moriah Gingerich and assistant coaches Kenneth Raval and Michael Cenabre selected seven that will be flown to Manila to join the regulars at the Tagaytay-Cavite based Chinese school.

GMC Head coach Moriah Gingerich explained the drill that he asked the participants to perform at the Our Lady of Sacred Heart Parish Gymnasium Saturday evening.
Two days earlier, the team also conducted a tryout in Tagbilaran City in Bohol where 20 hopefuls came to participate. Only three made the cut after the 2-day trials held at the Saulog Gym.
The 10 will now be a part of the pool of selection for the BLIA Cup tournament in Taiwan in July and will get the chance to be included in the line-up for GMC’s participation in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League in August.
