Pru Life UK is bringing back the country’s biggest cycling festival, PRURide Philippines, and this time, it is going all the way to Cebu.
This is the first time that the much-anticipated annual event will set foot in the Visayan Islands as part of Pru Life UK’s advocacy to help more Filipinos live a healthier lifestyle through cycling.
With many exciting activities to look forward to, PRURide Philippines 2023 will officially stir up the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) on May 28. Professional and amateur cyclists, families of different types, and friends can expect a fun ride while promoting a healthy lifestyle among the Cebuano community.
Participants in the event may register in different Gran Fondo categories while the Kids Ride and Family Fun Ride are FREE. The finals for the Virtual PRURide will also happen on May 28. The top finishers stand the chance to take home fun giveaways and cash prizes.
This year’s PRURide Philippines, which will also be held on May 21 in Clark is bigger as part of Prudential’s 175th anniversary celebration, including its 100 years in Asia.
PRURide Philippines 2023 is more exciting with the participation of its official advocates Gretchen Ho, Kim Atienza, and Zoren Legaspi; cycling content creators Ger Victor, Darlings Levi & Sara, Jeno Cuenco and Ian Austria; and Pru Life UK’s health champions Miguel Reyes, Teri Rombaoa, Montini De Guzman, and Aless Castañeda.
“We want to make this year’s PRURide Philippines all about the joy of celebrating life with family and the community. With an unwavering commitment to help Filipinos get the most out of life, Pru Life UK encourages our Cebuano neighbors to ride together for better health and overall wellness,” says Allan Tumbaga, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer and Marketing Officer of Pru Life UK.
In commemoration of Prudential’s 175th anniversary this year, Pru Life UK will also donate 175 bikes in Cebu and Clark with the help of its non-government partners. In Cebu, the company has partnered with JCI Zugbuanas, who will receive 88 bikes for their chosen community.
Fun activities await Cebuanos at PRURide PH 2023 in May
It is finally the Cebuano people’s time to shine as a bigger and more exciting PRURide Philippines goes directly to their homeland with family-friendly activities that aim to bring the fun out of cycling.
Casual and seasoned Cebuano cyclists can join the Gran Fondo, a safe and timed ride ranging from 30 to 60 and 100 kilometers. Gran Fondo 30 is ideal for beginners, while the 100 replicates the route taken by professional cyclists. Those looking for a moderate challenge can join the Gran Fondo 60, which follows a condensed format of the 100.
The Family Fun Ride is a 5-kilometer cycling activity that families can enjoy in groups, while the Kids Ride is a fun and friendly race for children.
Last April 30, the pre-qualifying round of the Cebu Virtual PRURide took off climactically, with the top six finalists vying to taking home cash prizes in the grand finals on May 28, amounting to Php 3,000, Php 5,000, and Php 10,000, for the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st placers respectively.
The Cebu leg of PRURide Philippines 2023 will end on a high note with a free concert by a top OPM band.
“We invite Filipino families in Cebu to take the first step in embracing a healthier lifestyle through cycling,” says Tumbaga.
