The Wesleyan Knights rule Central Luzon Regional PRISAA Chess Team Competition

MANILA—The Wesleyan University – Philippines (WUP) Chess Knights emerged victorious in the team category for both Chess Men and Women in the recently concluded Regional Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) held last May 2-6, 2023, in Columban College Inc. – Barretto Campus in Olongapo City.

 

The 1st and second runners-up for the team competitions are the Columban College and Guaga National Colleges (GNC) for the men and women divisions, respectively.

 

The members of the Dr. Gener Subia coached WUP include Era Bauto (CAS), King-Wilfred Silverio (COED), Joshua Navarro (CBA), Crisjohn Paolo Vilar (CECT) for the Men’s Division and Christine Mae Gamboa (CBA), Micah Serrano (CBA), Queen Juliet Besa (CONAMS), Sheena Princess Bon (CECT) for the Women’s side.

 

They will represent Region 3 in the National PRISAA on July 2023 in Zamboanga City together with selected strong players from Meycauayan College (Rhen Cristobal & Arvie Aguilar), Columban College (Camille Anne Pasiderio and Megan Lopez), Guaga National Colleges (Franchezka Paule) and from WUP high school (Frenz Jeremy Ramos).

The WUP Chess Knights are extremely grateful to the Wesleyan Management, heads, faculty, staff, students, alumni and most especially to their Sports Director, Dr. Henry Cocoly Nacpil and their respective Deans; Dr. Marietta Agustin (CAS), Engr. Yolanda Claudio (CECT), Dr. Juan Jerome Malaca (CBA), Prof. Rodolfo Reyes II (COEd), Dr. Ivan Uy & Prof. Judiliza Velayo (CONAMS).

 

Jeral Reyes acted as the technical official while NA Francisco Gabriel Prevandos served as the chief arbiter in this Regional Chess Tournament managed by Dr. Reymille Zamora.
